Look Before You Leap
March 27, 2008I can’t escape the English assignments! My class was to write a fable choosing a moral from a list that our teacher gave us. All we had to do was write the fable, which I did, but I also felt like doing an animation for it. I only had one day to complete it and this is my first animation with backgrounds and walking, so don’t be too harsh. I know it’s crappy, but I didn’t have a lot of time…I drew every scene frame by frame using Adobe Photoshop 7 and Windows Movie Maker. The music is Awakens as a Bear from the Disney movie, Brother Bear composed by Mark Marcina.
One clear morning in the Great Woods, Raccoon was walking along a quaint dirt path enjoying the forest surroundings. Just then, she spotted something ahead. As she drew nearer, she found that there was a large hole in the path. Raccoon carefully leaned over the edge and peered in. She was surprised to find a rainbow of fruit piled at the bottom. Without even thinking, she quickly jumped into the hole and began to eat her fill.
Many hours later, Raccoon felt the bulge of her stomach and decided to resume her walk. Glancing up and out of the hole, she found that she was actually much deeper than she thought she was. She began to walk up the sides of the pit only to find that the walls were too steep for her. She would have to jump out. Poor Raccoon tried and tried, but was unable to leave the hole.
“Help!” she began to cry out, hoping that someone passing by might hear her. “Please help me!”
Luckily, Fox had just been trotting by on his afternoon walk and heard Raccoon’s pleas. “Hello? Is somebody there?” he asked, glancing around.
“I’m down here!” Raccoon stated. “Can you help get me out?” Fox glanced into the hole and found Raccoon sitting helplessly at the bottom. After dipping his long tail into the ditch, Raccoon was able to pull herself out of the hole and back onto the path. “Thank you!” she cried out.
“No problem,” replied Fox. “Just remember, next time, look before you leap,” he stated with a smile.
Pretty good animation. And all of that was ps7 and WMM??

This is super cool. Nicely done story and your video goes well with it.
Out of curiosity, have you started thinking about a career? You seem to have some talents in video production.
I actually have been wanting to be a teacher since first grade. I’m not sure yet if I would like to be an all subject, elementary, or a one subject. If I decide to be a one subject, I would choose to be an English teacher. I’ve also always had this faint dream of writing and becoming an author on the side, but I don’t really think that’s going to happen. If I did though, I would also like to illustrate my own stories, like the book cover, or something.
I do like to draw, take pictures, create animations, and put together videos also, but I don’t really think that I am going to have a career that specializes in any of those.
