End of the Year Book: Cover Art Ideas

April 29, 2007

Okay, so the cover art is due like this Friday I think… I need to know some things. What do we want on it? Do you want me to do a variety of things such as the different genres on our “logo”? Should I do just one like a dragon or something? I need some ideas and I’m kind of freaking out right now due to all the work I have right now, so sorry about this messed up post, but gaah! I am really frustrated and I just want to get away from it all right now…

- – -

I got an idea now! How about this, a dragon curling around a large hourglass with space in the background and butterflies and flower petals pouring in the hourglass rather than sand. I’ll throw a quill pen in there somewhere.

How does everybody like this? Anything you want added or taken away?

I have finished the basic outline and am about to start coloring it. What colors should I use?

April 29, 2007

I would just like to say that I am not disappearing from Magic Pens, although it may look that way right now. This entire week from April 22 to April 28, 2007, I have been so busy with so much work that I have only been able to scribble down 745 words off of Magic Pens. I feel so tired as I write this due to the fact that I have not done anything “fun” since last Saturday. I am not kidding when I say that this entire week, every single day, I have woken up, gone to school, came home, did homework, and gone to bed. Even on this weekend and last Sunday, I have done nothing but homework… I have just been so swamped with work that it’s ridiculous. Well, I just finished now at 5:00, after working so long, (staying up to 3:00 in the morning on Saturday just to wake up at 10:00 today and start working again,) and am proud to declare that I have some free time! Sorry to say that I will not use this time to write…I’m just not in the mood. Right now I am so unmotivated and am just in a really cruddy, grumpy, and crappy mood, like always when I work too hard. As for reading, (for homwork, might I add,) I have read 77 pages of Great Expectations, written by Charles Dickens. Now, to do something fun…but crap. I have to draw our cover art…Let me get started on that.

April 22, 2007

This week from April 15 to April 21, 2007, I had plenty of time to write and was not very busy, yet I still didn’t get a lot done. I immediately wrote No Longer in Darkness Chapter 4 on Sunday, but found that nobody read it and commented, (Hannah did today. Thanks Hannah!) so I got really unmotivated and just didn’t write. I have a lot of art requests that I have been doing too. I drew a monkey, a lion, finished my guild’s layout, finished Mr. Gifford’s dragon, and still have to draw an elephant, horse, and swan. So, this week I wrote 3, 524 words on Magic Pens and read 72 pages from Great Expectations written by Charles Dickens. I hope that I get motivated to write this week, so wish me luck!

End of the Year Book: Ideas

April 20, 2007

For the end of the year book, (check Meeting Overview: April 20,2007 for more information,) I heard of an awesome idea from Elizabeth. Right now, we are currently going to submit whatever we feel like with one random theme. What if we do this but have one guideline? Every piece that is submitted into the book must have this one particular item in it. The item may be the main point of the piece, or may just be sitting on a table in the background. This would make it fun to search through each piece to find the certain item and would keep the book a little themed, but still wide open for anything at the same time.

There are many items that we can choose to be the one item, but here are a few that we were brought up.

  • hourglass
  • quill pen
  • feather
  • apple
  • globe
  • My favorite is the hourglass which I think would be a cool idea. If you have any ideas or have a favorite, comment and I will add any new ones to the list. Hopefully we can decide on one so we can start making arrangements for our book.

If we do decide to do this, then I have an awesome idea for the cover art. I could draw the one item, whatever it is, and have whatever else around it. Currently I am picturing a dragon curling around an hourglass, but whatever we choose will effect the picture.

I don’t know what you all think of this idea, so please comment and share your thoughts!

    Meeting Overview – April 20, 2007

    April 20, 2007

We actually had a pretty good turn out at the meeting that was held on April 20, 2007, with fourteen members, but unfortunately Mr. Gifford’s eldest had pinkeye and needed his father at home with him. Due to Mr. Gifford’s absence, our meeting only ran about 20 minutes long or so and we took a brief run through of some topics.

    In Rememberance of Hobbes

    April 18, 2007

I made a short slideshow of my cat, Hobbes, who recently died of heart failure, and thought that you might want to see it. These are all pictures that I took myself.

The Mark of the Dragon Chapter 1

    April 17, 2007

The administrator of the writing club, Magic Pens, that I am in, challenged all our members to create a multi-media story if we would like, using any media we can think of. We can use video, sound, writing, choose your own adventures, etc. Here is the frist chapter to my weak attempt. This is just my brother and me huddled in front of a microphone…nothing fancy. I don’t have that good of a movie maker either, so I’m sorry about that…

No Longer in Darkness: Chapter 4 – A Friendly Flight

    April 15, 2007

From the profound depths of my mind, I knew that my end was coming. I came to realize that I would not continue on; I would not go forth. My life was ending in this bleak, tenobrosity world, a world that I had never seen. With the wolf’s somber cry echoing through the mountains, I found myself entering a state of tranquility, causing my screams to cease. I came to ignore the rushing wind that blew forcefully upwards against my face and disregarded the chilling rain washing over me. I found myself beginning to dream.

    Check Up: April 15, 2007

    April 15, 2007

Don’t ask me why I didn’t get much writing done this week. I really don’t know why. I didn’t have much homework, and I was only a little bit sick, so I really have no excuse. This week from April 8 to April 14, 2007 I accomplished a total of 1,027 words, (most of it unpublished.) As for reading, I read 39 pages of Great Expectations, written by Charles Dickens. I really feel like writing about Ratorin, a character from my story, The Horse From the Woods, but he doesn’t appear until Chapter 3, so I may write some more on that story this week. Other than that, I really don’t know how much I plan to write this week. There is a meeting this Friday though, and meetings always put me in a good mood. Hmm…

I actually drew a lot of pictures this week, going for a more realistic approach towards animals on some of them. I drew this one last night, and I am really proud of it. Tell me what you think of it please.

    Story Idea #7

    April 12, 2007

If you were an animal, what would you be and why? You can write on which animal suits you best or which one you would most want to be.
